He Said ; Edie Brickell & New Bohemians ; Ghost of a Dog ; 1990
Despite the popularity of their first single What I Am, this is the first song I ever heard from this band and their extremely talented singer-songwriter. I was a wee little lad, staying up past my bedtime on a Saturday night, sneaking into the livingroom to watch Saturday Night Live; this band was the musical guest. I immediately fell in love with the song, as I was pining for the so-callled love of my life at the time (which I was as wrong about as 2+2 is 5), and so began my love affair with anything and everything to do with Edie Brickell. She even got me into Paul Simon's music later in life. This song and her music will forever be my first choice when I need a calming, soothing voice to twill beautifully crafted melodies in my ear.
